- 3.4.5 Business Rules and Validations
- URL Validation
- Rule: The entered website URL must be in a valid format.
- Validation: The system checks the URL structure using standard URL validation techniques.
- Error Handling: Display an error message if the URL is invalid and prompt the user to enter a correct URL.
- Sitemap Generation Limit
- Rule: Automatic sitemap generation is restricted to a maximum of 5,000 URLs per website (this limit will be changed in future).
- Validation: The system counts the number of URLs during the sitemap generation process.
- Error Handling: If the URL count exceeds 5,000 (this limit will be changed in future), halt the process and notify the user with an appropriate error message.
- Domain Consistency for Manual URLs
- Rule: All manually added sub-URLs must belong to the same domain as the primary website URL.
- Validation: The system verifies the domain of each manually added sub-URL against the primary domain.
- Error Handling: Reject any sub-URLs that do not match the primary domain and inform the user accordingly.
- Sitemap Regeneration
- Rule: Users can regenerate the sitemap by clicking the “Resync” button, initiating a fresh scan of the website.
- Validation: Ensure that the regenerated sitemap adheres to the 5,000 URL limit.
- Error Handling: If regeneration fails or exceeds the URL limit, notify the user with appropriate messages.
- URL Activation/Deactivation
- Rule: Users can activate or deactivate individual URLs.
- Validation: Ensure that only valid URLs are toggled between active and inactive statuses.
- Error Handling: Display error messages if the activation/deactivation process fails.
- Mandatory Fields
- Rule: All fields (Website URL, Sitemap Generation Option) are required.
- Validation: Ensure that users cannot proceed with adding a URL unless all required fields are filled.
